The end of this novel consist of powerful events that play through. Steven makes his last scene in his movie. Along with this last scene, Steven does a lot of deep thinking about his life and what is to come for him. O'Brien quikly left the trial without embracing Steven when he had his arms open, why? His Dad is not sure who his son is, why? These are questions that Steven asks himself when writing his last part of his movie.
"My father moved away, and the disance between us seemed to grow bigger and bigger. I understand the distance. My father is no longer sure of who I am." (Steven Harmon. 407).
You can grasp the feeling that Steven is hurt from the distance between his father and him. Even though he is sad about the seperation, he can somewhat understand why his father is questionable. Steven keeps telling himself that he also whould be questioning someone if they were recently accused of murder. But Steven does the best without his father.
